I've had almost every do or sausage they sell. The alligator is an exception, though I know it "tastes like chicken.' Service is always good, though the size of the kitchen does control the speed of the cooking - and this is not a place that pre cooks and the nukes. Food was amazing!!!

Great local place to get a delicious kosher hot dog! The perfect lunch experience, in a rustic patio area, overlooking a small dock on Sunset Creek. Great waitstaff, cold beverages, and delicious food.

Love this place - cold beer and way better than average bar food. Dogs - sausages - shrimp po boy is probably best thing in the menu.

I have been to the Barking Dog around a dozen times. Always good - service has been good and the food keeps me coming back. I generally only go when the weather allows for sitting in the outside (covered) area on the inlet. I have never sat inside and have no interest in sitting inside - I think it loses its appeal if not outside on the water. The best in Hampton roads for hot dogs and beer.

Burgers, Crab Cakes, Hot Dogs, and Frys were all very good. Friendly service.

A place with great atmosphere, decent shrimp, and half decent hot dog. My bf likes it better though, but not my fav place if i have to wait this much for my food. Worth a look but don't come with high expectations.

The chilli dog was okay, bur the veggie burger was not so great. Not everyone can get that right, but I will go back for the chilli dogs.

Neat little hot dog place, waterside.Nice views, and cool breezes.Service was just ok.Lots of options for toppings and the kosher hot dog was particularly good.The onion rings were awesome.Only other downsides were that the prices were a little high for hot dogs and the place was a little dirty, especially the bathroom.

I tried both the barking dog and Chicago dog and loved both. The fries are excellent. They served iced cold canned cokes and cups with ice and it was super refreshing on one of the hottest days of the year. They have a nice outdoor dining area.

Great hot dogs and chilli cheese fries. The customer service is amazing. Great view and great vibe. The parking lot does need some work, but the food more than made up for it. I'd definitely recommend this place. It's also inexpensive if you're on a budget.

Delicious dogs. This was my first visit. I only ordered one Barking Dog (mustard chili and onions) with fries and a Coke, the dog was so good I had to get another. I went early and the service was very pleasant and quick. The dining room is very cozy and the location is right on the water. The only drawback was that the parking spot I was in had a huge drop-off and my 4x4 truck scraped the bottom. Overall very good experience with good food. Will return to try other menu items as well as the banana pudding.

Lots of hotdogs options as well as crab cakes and fish and chips. The fish and chips uses catfish, which tastes pretty good and the basket is pretty filling with hush puppies, fries and a tiny slaw cup. They have snap dogs, which are smaller hotdogs - maybe 5 inches long, and probably a good size for kids. The Alligator sausage has a hint of spice and is pretty good. The sausage itself is large and quite filling and is nice to have a non-traditional option of meat.This is a very small restaurant with lots of character and very well priced. I recommend visiting if you're in the area. However, since it is popular, there is sometimes a wait for tables, and if it's just two people, you may share a table with another couple, which can be fun in itself as well. If you're against the wait, order take away and visit something local or eat on the beach (just remember to clean up after yourself if you do).

Great little spot! Decided to try something new and this was what we ended up, a quaint little water side hot dog shack. The yellowfin tuna tacos which were fantastic. Sushi grade tune seasoned and seared, paired with pickled cabbage, cilantro, and tomato, these are filling and delicious. Next up, shrimp po boy, but you can also get clam or scallops I believe. Golden fried shrimp on a light bed of lettuce and tomato, with a creamy remoulade that wasn't over powering. For sides we had French fries which were crispy and light, and mustard based potato salad which was creamy and rich without overpowering. I know this is a hot dog place and I'll probably try those next time, but they knocked these out of the park. Great food at a decent price, generous portions, a nice selection of craft beer, and a great waterside venue.

Delicious food, great prices, and friendly staff! Personally witnessed them calmly and professionally handle a total manchild customer and felt like leaving a pisitive review. Always a great meal and the pier-side atmosphere can't be beat. Been coming here for years! Don't miss out.

My girlfriend and I loved the atmosphere, this place is located right next to the water! Fantastic view and wonderful food! The burger I had was just not that filling. Glad I ordered more food. Missing one star because the prices were high.

I ordered their oyster poor boy and it was excellent. The oysters were succulent and not overcooked. The interior of the restaurant is the normal for what you will find in most dining establishments along the Chesapeake Bay. Laid back, not fancy, and with a nautical charm.

Great food, fast service, reasonable prices. Good beer selection too. Outdoor patio had really nice view of the water.

You are outside on a covered porch. You get sit down service but it is literally a hot dog stand. For example all the drinks come in bottles/cans and they give you a cup of ice. The food is really good and sitting on the creek is pretty.

Great local Hampton spot. Greeted with great customer service and even better menu of the one of life's greatest pleasures...hot dogs.Today I placed a to go order of Barking dogs (snap dog), along with a burger, bbq sandwich, fries, corn dog nuggets, and banana pudding to boot!Definitely need to come when I have more time to indulge in the adult beverages. Just like the shirt says "Thousands of wieners served!"

Great dogs, amazing servers, and I can't even go on enough about the banana pudding 😍😍 But, it is a very small space so expect to possibly have a wait, well worth it though!

Everyone is always friendly and the food is great! I love the quarter pound dog and onion rings. There are so many choices for toppings that I could eat here every day and never get tired of it. The burger is great too. It's like having an outside barbecues with someone else cooking.

Stopped here on our road trip to pick up food to go. Very friendly staff and helpful. Food came out quickly too. We ordered their crab cake combo with fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and their Diablo hot dog with fries. The crab cake was a little too salty for my taste but was a HUGE portion so that was nice. I hate when I order some thing more expensive and then get nothing of it. Their hot dog, hush puppy, and fries were great They had a lot of options to choose from. One sad thing was the to go containers are styrofoam. I hate seeing styrofoam at establishments.

Over season fish, both the tuna and the cat. Just seemed like a lot of old bay. Took a long time but the hushpuppies were really good

Barking Dog is a good little cafe at the marina. The dogs are ok, people like to load them up but I prefer them the old school way. The french fries are the draw here for me. And the unique location and atmosphere.

I got the big fish sandwich 😁👌 The fish was bigger than the bread. I had to cut half off then cut it again to make it fit! It was very good. I will be there more often.

Absolutely amazing. Especially the chili cheese fries. An amazing blend of both crispy and soggy with chili. My father said the “big fish sandwich” was phenomenal with the tartar sauce, and didn’t taste like it was bought at the store. Probably homemade. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant. It’s good stuff.

Apparently they are unaware that there's a pandemic. They have all the notices hung, but not one employee was wearing a mask, they put our cans in reusable cuzies, the waitress carried our drinks out by the rim, they didn't recycle the menus, didn't thoroughly clean the tables, utensils were placed in our food....Food was okay, but I won't be back.

A fabulous quaint little restaurant. Low key vibe with great food. We had grilled blacken ahi tuna sandwich and the fried fish sandwich. Both were tasty and cooked very well.

Kosher hotdogs are delicious and when you get them with toppings it's even better. The seating area was small but loved that it was by the water. It was a little wait to receive our food so don't be in a rush when you get there especially if they're busy. We had a really nice waitress by the name of Erin. The wait staff (3) didn't seem to be able to efficiently handle the line, clean and wait tables. Drinks come in a can so I'm not sure if there were refills. Would I go back...yes. I 💓 hotdogs.

The Barking Dog has a "local restaurant" feel. Don't expect niche, upscale, and hippy. My review is based on the food and service. The waitress was kind and courteous; she answered every question I had, even though they were a bit unnecessary. The hotdogs were tasty! I ate the Carolina Drive-In Dog, it was an interesting combo! I have nothing negative to say about it. The fries were very fried, I am not a fan of the "Dive-style" fry and they don't come with seasoning. I could do without them in the future. Lastly, the banana pudding was superb! I would definitely recommend coming for that alone.

Can't give ZERO stars! Waiting for food, apparently they gave it to someone else and didn't rewrite the order! Petulant children working there who do not want these mistakes pointed out!
